Ginsberg begins the class with a discussion of Walt Whitman's Song of myself. This is follow-up from the previous class. He reads portions and discusses the evidence of Whitman's ego and then discusses negative capability. The class then turns to Fernando Pessoa, and poems including Salutation to Walt Whitman, Poem in a straight line, and Tobacco shop are read and discussed. The class reads and talks about Frederico Garcia Lorca's Ode to Walt Whitman, and discusses Lorca's life and the imagery in his poem.</description><date>1981-06-22</date><year>1981</year><licenseurl>http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd-nc/1.0/</licenseurl><publicdate>2007-08-15 19:54:16</publicdate><addeddate>2007-08-15 18:58:31</addeddate><uploader>renata@archive.org</uploader><taper>Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics</taper><naropa_identifier>81P115</naropa_identifier><event>class</event><updatedate>2007-08-15 19:54:23</updatedate><updater>ewingrr</updater><collection>audio_bookspoetry</collection></metadata>
